7:55 p.m. The City Council is adjourned.

7:50 p.m. The council approves the first reading of the referendum on Sunday alcohol sales in Woodstock.

7:48 p.m. The Sunday alcohol sales issue is up.

7:47 p.m. The council approves this bid.

7:47 p.m. This is for the Rubes Creek water reclamation facility upgrade. Moon says this is an 18-month project that'll go across a couple of budget years.

7:45 p.m. City Manager Jeff Moon wants to award a bid to Heavy Constructors of Marietta as the lowest bidder of $3,103,533.51.

7:41 p.m. The council unanimously approves the Sabrina Court stream restoration bid.

7:39 p.m. The Public Works Department is requesting to award a bid to Aquascapes Environmental. AE was lowest bidder with a bid of $60,800.

7:30 p.m. Cotton Mill Deli's alcohol license is approved by the council.

7:29 p.m. Cotton Mill Deli's office door is 220 feet from the closest church.

7:29 p.m. Henriques says a church must be more than 185 feet from the front door of a business selling alcohol.

7:27 p.m. Henriques says Latimer Hall is the building the man is referring to, and it's not considered a church, although owns the facility. Church services are not held in that building.

7:25 p.m. He wants to know if it is in the parameters, based on the distance from the church doors to the deli's front doors. He is questioning the legality of it.

7:24 p.m. An individual is asking about the alcohol license that is applying for tonight.

7:22 p.m. The council is going through the events calendar now. Reminder: The first concert featuring Edwin McCain is this Saturday.

7:21 p.m. Dr. Kenneth Kligman is voted onto the Downtown Development Authority.

7:10 p.m. Mayor Donnie Henriques encouraged Valenzuela to come up with the next sister city. Siena, Italy, is the latest sister city. (Here's the Wikipedia entry in English.)

7:06 p.m. Claudia Valenzuela, the new consul general of El Salvador, is speaking at the meeting. The Salvadoran Consulate is at 9740 Main St. in Woodstock. It serves Alabama and South Carolina in addition to Georgia.

7:05 p.m. We are through the pledge and prayer, and the Woodstock City Council meeting is beginning.
