More Than 11,000 Vote Early In Cherokee

Officials are "excited" about the high turnout.

UPDATE 10:24 a.m.: Saturday brought out thousands of voters in Cherokee. The total number of voters who cast ballots on Saturday were:

  • Elections office in Canton: 951
  • Ball Ground Public Library: 530
  • Hickory Flat Public Library: 1,168
  • Rose Creek Public Library: 1,354
  • Woodstock Public Library: 1,409

Early voting has brought out more than 11,000 registered voters taking part in the electoral process.

As of Friday, about 11,970 voters have cast ballots ahead of the Nov. 6 general election. Elections Supervisor Janet Munda said the elections office in Canton saw on average 1,200 voters per day last week.

"We are very excited,” said Elections Supervisor Janet Munda. "We’ve been getting people through quickly."

Munda said the average wait time for voters last week was about 20 minutes.

Advanced voting starts today and will run through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. at Ball Ground Public Library, Hickory Flat Public Library, Rose Creek Public Library and Woodstock Public Library.

No voting will be held on Monday Nov. 5, but all polling precincts will be open between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Election Day.

Munda noted the experience has been seamless with minimal problems.
