Sept. 11 Rememberance Headlines Host of Events

The city has scheduled a series of concerts, events and markets during September.


September will be busy in Woodstock.

The city and Woodstock's Jaycees will host a 9-11 day of Remembrance at the Woodstock downtown City Park.

The Tuesday, Sept. 11 event, set to begin at 7 p.m., will include remembrances of those lost, as well as the service men and women who continue to fight for our freedom. The event will also honor the men and women wearing the uniform of police, fire and rescue. A limited supply of 9/11 Remembrance lapel pins will be distributed.

The city has scheduled a series of other events for September.

The Brown Bag Lunch Concerts in The Park at City Center continue every Thursday in September from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. A great Mothers Morning Out activity! So bring a chair, pick up some lunch at one of Woodstock's downtown restaurants, and enjoy!

Woodstock Farmer's Market continues every Saturday through Oct. 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the City Center parking lot on the corner of Towne Lake and Main St. across from Woodstock United Methodist.

On Friday, Sept. 7 "FRIDAY NITE LIVE"  in Downtown Woodstock kicks off at 6 p.m.. The event theme is Downtown Tailgate.

Country music artist Craig Campbell is secheduled to perform Sept. 8 in the final concert of the 2012 Woodstock Summer Concert Series. Campbell's performance of his hits, including Fish, Family Man, I Bought It, Chillaxin, When I Get It and My Little Cowboy, marks the end of the 15th season for Woodstock’s summer concert series and the second in the newly expanded Park at City Center.

Since 1998, the City of Woodstock has hosted thousands of people in Downtown Woodstock by providing free family-friendly concerts. The Sept. 8 concert, which starts at 7:30 p.m., is sponsored by Northside Hospital Cherokee.

Other dates to note:

  • 9/3/2012: City Hall Offices Closed for Labor Day
  • 9/5/2012: The Woodstock Civilian Police Academy begins, continuing every Wednesday for 10 weeks.
  • 9/17/2012: Mayor and Council Work Session is cancelled

And don't forget that an outdoor burning ban remains in effect through Sept. 30.
