Total Tornado Damage: $15 Million

More than 400 insurance companies have reported storm-related data.

Insurance companies have received 3,646 claims since ripped through Cherokee County,Β Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph T. HudgensΒ said today.

"Insured losses across north Georgia from Monday’s severe weather has now reached an estimated $15 million," the agency said in a news release this afternoon.

And that number could grow.

"I want to remind everyone that these are very preliminary numbers," Hudgens said. "It takes weeks for both the insurers and the insured to fully assess the extent of the damage from the storm. To date, we have had 408 insurance companies report their storm-related data. Per my directive issued on Sept. 6, 2011, the companies will continue to report information into our system over the next few weeks."
