Weather Delays New Traffic Signals for Highway 92

Inclement weather in Virginia has forced the Georgia Department of Transportation to delay rolling out new signals at 11 intersections on Highway 92 in Woodstock.

The weather in the mid-Atlantic state caused a delay in the shipment of supplies needed to perform the work, so GDOT will postpone upgrading the traffic signals to week of Feb. 3-11, the agency said on Monday. 

As part of state component of the Regional Traffic Operations Program, 11 intersections along the thoroughfare will be outfitted with Four-Section Flashing Yellow Arrow (FYA) signals.

The signals, which will be used at intersections that historically have heavy left-turning traffic, be a vertical display of four left turn arrows that will function as hte following: 

• When solid red arrow is illuminated, no left turn is allowed;
• When solid yellow arrow is displayed, drivers should prepare to stop as light is about to turn red;
• When flashing yellow arrow is illuminated, drivers may turn left but must yield to pedestrians and oncoming vehicles; and
• When solid green arrow is displayed, drivers may turn left.
