What's Going on This Week in Woodstock

We've listed five important things to remember as you jump start your work week.

1. Don't forget that Georgia Department of Transportation will be mowing the grass along Highway 140/Hickory Flat Highway and Highway 20/Cumming Highway. Of course, all of that depends on the weather, which doesn't look like it will cooperate with GDOT.  

2. You can sign up to give blood at Woodstock City Annex on Wednesday. LifeSOUTH will be at the annex, located at 12453 Highway 92, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday. Email hgaddis@woodstockga.gov or call 770-592-6000 ext. 1951 to sign up.
 
3. If you can't stop by Woodstock City Annex on Wednesday to donate blood, you have another chance this weekend. On Saturday, Envision Health Studio will hold a Hydrate Our Heroes blood drive to benefit soldiers serving in Afghanistan. The business will sponsor Operation Hydrate Our Heroes to fund care packages that contain AdvoCare Rehydrate products for soldiers in Cherokee County Firefighter Mike Murphy's platoon. LifeSOUTH Community Blood Centers will be on-hand for individuals who are able to donate a pint of blood. 

4. If you need to stop by the Cherokee County Tax Commissioner's offices in either Canton or Woodstock, you won't be able to Tuesday morning. Both offices will be closed in the morning for state-mandated training. The agency's hours of operation on Tuesday will be from noon to 5 p.m. 

5. Time is running out to register for a job coaching event sponsored by Holly Springs-based Cherokee FOCUS. Registration closes on Aug. 30 for the Sept. 6 event, which will be held at the Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency's recreation center in Woodstock. Find the registration form here.
