Woodstock Once Again Delays Billboard Decision

Applicant Tinsley Postiglione asked the council to table the decision to give its surveyor time to complete his work, which was done at the request of the council.

A decision to allow a billboard to be installed near I-575 in Woodstock has once again been delayed.

The Woodstock City Council on Monday tabled a request from Tinsley Postiglione to install a billboard on 3.49 acres on Rope Mill Road, adjacent to right-of-way along I-575.

The request to table came from the company, which needs more time for the surveyor it hired to complete supplemental information requested by the council back in June, said Attorney E. Adam Webb, who is representing the company in the case.

Webb said he expects the surveyor to finish his task soon.

"We are hopeful it will be within the next couple of weeks," he added.

The application for the sign permit to install the billboard was initially denied by city staff and the company has appealed to the city for a possible reversal.

Staff denied the request based on the property's zoning and a deed restriction placed on the property that prohibits it from being used for billboards.

The current zoning of the property, light industrial with technology park overlay, prohibits the installation of billboards within 500 feet of a residential parcel. The city's code allows for residential development in the overlay zoning.

The property was owned by the city and transferred to its current owners earlier this year.
