Woodstock Incumbents, Challengers Qualify for November Races

All but one incumbent on the Woodstock City Council qualified on Monday to run in the Nov. 5 elections.

The city of Woodstock saw regular foot traffic on Monday as several candidates have set in stone their intentions to run in the Nov. 5 elections.

Incumbent Mayor Donnie Henriques and incumbent council members Bob Mueller of Ward 3 and Bud Leonard of Ward 5 have all qualified to run for re-election.

Challenger Judy Davila has formally tossed her hat into the ring to run for the Ward 3 seat while former Woodstock City Council member Susan Jones has qualified to challenge Leonard for the seat she lost in 2005.

Resident Daniel Warren Johnson has also formally tossed his hat into the ring to challenge Ward 1 incumbent Randy Brewer on Election Day.

Qualifying will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday in the office of city clerk at Woodstock City Annex, located at 12453 Highway 92. Candidates can qualify between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on both days. The fees are $360 for the office of mayor and $270 for each city council seat.

The deadline for residents to register for the city election is Oct. 7.

City voters will cast their ballots on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 5 and a run-off has been tentatively scheduled for Tuesday Dec. 3.
