Woodstock Purchases Land for Parking

The site behind Morgan's Ace Hardware will be used for parking at the Park at City Center.

More parking options will soon come to downtown Woodstock.

The Woodstock City Council on Monday voted to purchase a vacant piece property from Community & Southern Bank along Arnold Mill Road behind Morgan's Ace Hardware. The property sits across the street from the Park at City Center

The council voted to proceed with the purchase with a vote of 5-1, with Councilman Chris Casdia opposing. The vote was taken after the council returned from executive session.

The purchase price is set at $250,000 and the city will use parks and recreation impact fees to make the purchase. The land is roughly two-thirds of an acre and could accommodate 40-50 spaces, depending on layout, access points and buffers, said City Manager Jeff Moon.

Layout of the property has not been designed yet, Moon added.
