Woodstock To Vote On Loan For Ridgewalk Widening
The Woodstock City Council will consider a loan in the amount up to $2.7 million to pay for phases one, two and three of the Ridgewalk Parkway widening project.
The Woodstock City Council will consider approving an agreement with Community & Southern Bank to to use a loan to pay for the widening of Ridgewalk Parkway during its meeting tonight.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Chambers at City Center at 8534 Main Street.
The road will be widened between the Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta's main entrance and Ridge Trail. The agreement calls for the loan to be secured with up to $2.7 million in Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, or SPLOST, IV dollars.

The city, along with Horizon Properties, the outlet mall's developer, and Cherokee County all chipped in to pay for the roadway's improvements.
The council will also hold a public hearing on proposed changes to the boundaries of its six wards.

Reapportioning the city's wards occurs every 10 years after the U.S. Census is taken.
Based on the city's 2010 population of 23,896, each ward ideally would have 3,982 residents, or 16 percent of the total population.
The city has to stay within the mandated 5 percent range, which means each ward could have between 3,783 to 4,181 citizens. The city experienced significant growth on its east side, so the wards will be changed to accommodate the changes.
The council will also hear an appeal from a Camila's Cabs, which was recently denied a renewal vehicle for hire license.
The applicant originally received the license in September, but when the owern came to renew the license for 2013, the city learned the vehicle did not meet the city's age stipulations in its code.
The code states that as of Dec. 31, 2006, "no vehicle having a vehicle age greater than eight years may be operated as a taxicab, vehicle for hire or sedan in the city. For the purpose of section, the term vehicle age shall be the vehicle model year. The council may consider a waiver of the age limitation within the first two years following adoption in the case of hardships and the condition of the vehicle."
