Woodstock Jeweler Hosts Mother's Day Contest

After spending three weeks in Colombo and Ratnapura, Sri Lanka, Ian Brown hopes to be home in time to celebrate Mothers' Day with his family. And he won't be coming home empty-handed.

Last year, Ian and Catherine Brown opened I&C Jewelers in downtown Woodstock to provide the community a boutique jewelry shop experience catering to the discriminating tastes of jewelry connoisseurs.

After spending the previous decade perfecting his craft as Vice President, Head Appraiser and Director of Sales for Brown&Co Jewelers (Roswell/Buckhead), Ian was quite enthusiastic about is vision for his and Catherine's own specialty store.

Catherine has spent her professional career at Mayors and then as Head Buyer, Merchandising and Sales at Brown&Co. Together, they make a formidable pair in the industry and are a vast resource of knowledge for their clients.

As to appraising fine jewelry, Ian feels passionately about educating his clients on the value of accurate appraisals.  He says, "While some retailers make it a practice of simply doubling the purchase price, we determine the appraisal on what the piece is truly worth. Our appraisals are accurate and certified and you can feel confident you won't be over paying on your insurance premiums."

This month Brown is travelling in Sri Lanka, exploring the gem mines for precious stones to sell by direct request and from their Woodstock store. Documenting his finds in a photojournalistic manner through his blog, his customers can view these beautiful gemstones through the eyes of a master Graduate Gemologist.

Of one find in particular, the 3.11 cts 7.82X6.87mm extra-fine, no heat AAAAA grade Padparadscha Sapphire, Brown says, "This is a true 'Cabinet Quality' gem, displaying peach and red colors with undertones of pink and is my favorite stone of my journey."

According to Brown, "In a high-end retail environment, the asking price would be conservatively $60,000 to $80,000.  Some retailers would put a 'fine art' price on this. Wholesale we've got it at $37,588."

After spending three weeks in Colombo and Ratnapura, Sri Lanka, Ian hopes to be home in time to celebrate Mothers' Day with his family.  And he won't be coming home empty-handed.

I&C Jewelers has launched a Mother of all Mothers' Days Contest offering a '2.65 carat Zircon AAAAA extra-fine collector gemstone, natural Ceylon Tea brown/yellow b-color valued at $1192' to one lucky winner.  To enter the contest, simply like their Facebook page here and enter before midnight this Friday, May 11th.

Good luck to you!
