BOE's Geist Won't Seek Second Term

The Cherokee School Board member says he won't run due to family and job reasons.

Michael Geist will not seek a second term in 2014 on the Cherokee Board of Education, reports the Cherokee Tribune.

Geist told the newspaper he wasn't running in order to spend more time with his family and because of job changes.

Recently Geist, a Woodstock resident whose district includes Woodstock, Hickory Flat and southeast Cherokee, has made news by writing a letter in support of fellow member Kelly Marlow remaining in office while facing criminal charges.

Earlier this year Hickory Flat resident John Harmon announced that he would challenge Geist for his District 3 seat.
