Carmel Teacher Wins Prize To Purchase Classroom Supplies

Merry Willis of Carmel Elementary School has been named Pitsco's Teacher of the Year.

A Carmel Elementary School teacher has been named an education product company's Teacher of the Year.

Merry Willis, a STEM enrichment specialist at the school, has been named Pitsco’s Teacher of the Year.

It's the first time the education product company has named a Teacher of the Year winner from existing pool of Teacher of the Month recipients.

Willis was Pitsco's teacher of the month in August 2013.

The STEM enrichment specialist has won a $250 Pitsco Prize, which can be used to purchase classroom supplies. She's also been recognized on the company’s website and its social media platforms.

Willis was honored for her "passion for education and hands-on, minds-on classroom experiences," the Cherokee County School District said.
