Both men have completed basic training and will start classes this month.

"We’re incredibly proud of Ben," Mrs. McFarlin said. "We were there as a family, along with his girlfriend, Emily Zimmerman, when Ben reported for Cadet Basic Training -- also known as ‘Beast Barracks’ -- on July 1.  We’ll be there again on August 17 for Acceptance Day, when he’ll officially become a West Point Cadet."

McFarlin received a presidential nomination and nominations from U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson and U.S. Rep. Tom Price.

While a student at Creekview, McFarlin served as president of the Environmental Club and Co-Executive of the school’s Habitat for Humanity chapter.  He was a Superintendent’s Key Scholar and was selected as state senator from Georgia at the American Legion’s Boys Nation event.

Trey was appointed to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy by U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson.

Alexander participated in National Signing Day to play football for the academy.  Alexander was also named Defensive Player of the Year by the Gridiron Club for both his junior and senior seasons and was a 2013 Dooley Award winner.

He also made All-County Honorable Mention as a basketball player for Woodstock High and was a member of the National Honor Society.

"We are very proud of Trey," Mrs. Alexander said. "He has been and continues to be obedient, respectful, responsible, strong, courageous, dedicated, protective and much more.  All of these characteristics will carry him to great heights. It was truly an honor when Trey received his nomination from U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson."
