State Honors Director of Special Ed

Charlette Green received the 2011 Outstanding New Special Education Administrator from the Georgia Council of Administrators of Special Education.

's Director of Special Education, Charlette Green, was recognized by the Georgia Council of Administrators of Special Education (G-CASE) as the 2011 Outstanding New Special Education Administrator. 

The state-wide award, which recognizes new directors, was presented to Green at G-CASE's spring leadership meeting in Athens on March 20 by G-CASE past president and Fayette County Director of Special Education, Chris Horton. Green was nominated for "motivating, energetic and dynamic" attitude and her high expectations for student with disabilities in CCSD. 

Green has served a total of 14 years in special education, including almost two years as CCSD's Director of Special Education. Just prior to coming to CCSD, Green served as an Education Program Specialist in the Department for Exceptional Students at the Georgia Department of Education. She received the Patricia C. Lindamood award for Clinical Leadership Excellence in Language and Literacy presented at the California State University Monterey Bay National Leadership Conference in Language and Literacy in October 2008.

Green has presented on numerous special education topics at both the state and national levels and has served in several volunteer activities for the American Speech Hearing and Language Association (ASHA). She just completed a three-year term on ASHA's Governmental Relations and Public Policy Board. She is also the co-chair of the G-CASE Professional Development Committee.  

Green is a co-author of the Service Delivery and Policy in Educational Settings chapter in the textbook, “Professional Issues in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology,” 4th Edition, to be available in November 2012. She also serves as a column editor for several national professional journals.
