Etowah Names New Varsity Girls Soccer Coach

Before coming to Etowah, Dover was the assistant varsity coach at Mill Creek High School.

Emily Dover, a former Sequoyah High School standout and University of North Georgia All-American, has been selected to become the next Varsity Girls’ Soccer Coach for the Etowah High School Eagles.

Dover completed her prep career at Sequoyah in 2008 as a two-time Cherokee County Player of the Year (2007, 2008) and the county’s all-time leader in goals in a season (41) and career (92), according to the Cherokee County School District.

After graduation, she accepted a scholarship to attend Georgia State University to play soccer. After finishing her sophomore season, she transferred to the University of North Georgia to continue her soccer career alongside her younger sister Whitley, a 2010 graduate of Creekview High School.

During her final collegiate season, Dover was again recognized for her stellar play earning the titles of Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year, All-American team and Scholar All-American.

When Dover’s collegiate career ended she had the opportunity to join the Atlanta Silverbacks Women’s semi-professional soccer team.  After playing one season, she decided to move on to coaching, and this past season, Dover joined the soccer staff at Mill Creek High School as an assistant varsity coach.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Mill Creek," Dover said. "However, I really wanted to be back working and living in Cherokee County. I am more than excited to have such an amazing opportunity of coaching and teaching at Etowah High School."

Etowah is a National Blue Ribbon School, and its athletic teams compete in Georgia’s largest classification — currently 6A — and the school has an enrollment of just over 2,300 students.
