Etowah, River Ridge Graduates Win National Merit Scholarships

Four Etowah High School and one River Ridge High School students are headed to college with prestigious scholarships. 

Four students from Etowah from the class of 2013 were awarded National Merit Scholarships. Alyssa K. Baker, who plans to study international relations at Georgia Institute of Technology, won a National Merit Lockheed Martin Academic Scholarship. 

The Lockheed Martin Corporation Foundation supports scholarship awards for children of Lockheed Martin employees.

Alyssa was one of approximately 1,000 students to win corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship awards financed by about 200 corporations, company foundations and other business organizations. 

Three other Etowah graduates and one River Ridge High School graduate won college or university-backed National Merit Scholarships.

Ian A. Donn, who plans to study computer science, won a National Merit Georgia Institute of Technology Scholarship; Ahila Mannivannan, who plans to study medicine, won a National Merit Wayne State (Detroit, Mich.) University Scholarship; and Duncan Matthew Morgan, who plans to study engineering, won a National Merit Vanderbilt University Scholarship.           

River Ridge graduate Connor X. Wilkinson, who plans to study computer science, also won a National Merit Georgia Institute of Technology Scholarship.
