At River Ridge, Haag was active in the Student Advisory Board, Crusading Knights, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Drama Club, Excalibur Society, Knights of the Round Table, International Club, Homecoming Committee, Prom Committee and Super Friends, all while maintaining a 95-100 academic average.

The association holds fundraisers and accepts donations for the scholarship, which was named in honor of Judy Johnson, a Cherokee County School District Food Service employee who passed away in 2009.

The scholarship is awarded to the child or grandchild of a CCSNA member who has shown strong academic performance and a record of community service, the school district said on Wednesday.

Haag is the daughter of River Ridge High cafeteria manager Laura Bricker, and the granddaughter of retired CCSD Food Service manager Margo Bricker.

The organization has an annual fundraising goal of $500 for the scholarship, but this year several donors contributed matching funds to bring the scholarship to $1,000.
