More Than $1 million in Scholarships
Students from Etowah and Woodstock high schools earn college money from all over the country.
Years of studying and hard work paid off for local students. Woodstock-Towne Lake Patch checked with the three high schools in Woodstock to find out about our local scholarship recipients. The schools would not release individual student information. However, we heard from some of the students from :
- Garret Duron graduated with honors and received an academic and tennis scholarship for Carson-Newman College. He was selected for the Honors Program at Carson-Newman and intends on pursuing their pre-medical program.
- Hayley Morton received an academic and soccer scholarship to Tennessee Tech University.
- Christopher Patrick McIsaac II received a $2,000 scholarship to The Citadel: The Military College of South Carolina for the varsity sports of cross country and track.
seniors have been offered more than $1 million this year in academic scholarships alone. This amount includes academic scholarships to various universities:
- Auburn University.
- University of Miami.
- Syracuse University.
- Berry College.
- University of Georgia.
- Kennesaw State University.
- ROTC at Cornell University.
- North Georgia College and State University.
- Mercer University.
- University of the Cumberland.
- Georgia Highlands.
- Devry University.
- SCAD.

does not have any seniors yet, so there are not any scholarships to report.
"Check back with me in 2012, and Iβm sure I will be able to supply you a long list of scholarship winners," counselor Jeff Bennet said.

Graduation is today for both Etowah and Woodstock high schools at First Baptist Woodstock. Etowah is at 9 a.m., and Woodstock follows at 5 p.m. Family members and friends who could not make it to the ceremony can watch the commencement live here provided by the church.
