Woodstock Alum Chosen for 2013 Orienteering National Junior Team

Connor Frost is only one of 10 men from the entire country who will be on the team.

Woodstock High School alumni and University of Georgia freshman Connor Frost has been selected to the 2013 USA Orienteering National Junior Team. 

Orienteering is an internationally recognized sport that uses specially prepared orienteering maps and a compass to navigate from point to point in diverse and usually unfamiliar terrain.

Frost is one of only 10 young men from the entire nation selected for this prestigious team.

The USA Orienteering National Junior Team will travel to the Czech Republic this summer to compete in the Junior World Orienteering Championships.

The team receives specialized training from national coach, Erin Schirm, in this unique sport that is extremely popular in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Canada and growing in popularity in the US.

Frost took up the sport of orienteering in middle school and continued during high school, leading the Woodstock High School NJROTC Orienteering team to 1st place in the Naval JROTC National Championships in 2011.

In 2012, Frost placed 2nd in the US M-20 Orienteering Middle Championships and the US M-20 Orienteering Long Championships, 3rd in the US M-20 Orienteering Sprint Championships and 1st in the Southeast Interscholastic Championships Varsity Division.

He participates most weekends at local meets put on by the Georgia Orienteering Club. For more information about orienteering locally, visit www.gaorienteering.org.
