Etowah Loses Heartbreaker to North Gwinnett

The baseball season ends for the Eagles in the first round of the playoffs.

The Etowah Eagles lost a coin flip to determine whether they would be the home or visiting team at on Saturday for their best-of-three series finale against the North Gwinnett Bulldogs. That fated coin flip, and the fact that North Gwinnett got the final at-bat of the game because of it, would haunt the Eagles.

The Bulldogs took an early lead, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning. But Etowah pecked away, scoring a run in the fourth inning and another when Cameron Sperry hit a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game.

The Bulldogs came to bat in the bottom of the seventh and started with a walk. Seth Bancroft doubled, putting Bulldogs on second and third, and Connor Jenkins walked to load the bases.
