Jay Guarino Memorial Acworth Open

Get ready to kick off the summer with water-ski competition, sun and fun at Cauble Park in Acworth, Ga! The Atlanta Water Ski Club is holding our 4th Annual Jay Guarino Memorial Acworth Open. Event dates are May 14-15th. This is a 3 event water-ski competition for all ages. This Class C, 3 event tournament represents Slalom Skiing, Trick Skiing and Jump Skiing as sanctioned by USA Waterski. Competition begins at 8 am both days with slalom and Tricks on Saturday, then Slalom (final round) and Jumping on Sunday. The tournament usually concludes by 4p.m. each day.

We have openings for 40 competitors, some of whom reside locally. Others will travel in from all over the southern region to participate. Events like these are an important stepping stone to progress toward regional and national competition championships. Peak performance could even lead to the professional circuit! Just ask Regina Jaquess of Georgia, world record holder in Women’s slalom! Some of our gracious sponsors this year include: Marine Maxx, Solace Neuromuscular Massage, Phillips Lighting & Jim Ellis Audi.

Our Club has been in existence on Lake Allatoona since 1962. As one of the last and oldest public lake clubs in the nation, AWSC offers a place to congregate and be with other skiers that range from recreational skiing to show & tournament skiing.  Our club boasts both Junior and Adult Skiers that are nationally ranked. Other big events the AWSC participates in are Love the Lake Festival, which is hosted by the City of Acworth; disabled skier clinics that are co-sponsored by the Shepherd Center in Atlanta,  and our BBQ at Lake Allatoona. For more information about AWSC, check out www.awsc.net for details.
