Friday Football Preview

Etowah travels, Woodstock hosts and River Ridge won't kick off until next week.

The 2011 football season is finally here. There has been a spattering of games throughout the area, but tonight is the night where most of the football teams kick off.

Here's what's on the slate for schools in the Woodstock-Towne Lake Patch:

Etowah (0-0) at Berkmar (0-0) – put up 56 points on Berkmar at home last year in its opener and now the Eagles start the 2011 season on the road. Senior running back Devonte Wheaton led the rushing attack in 2010 and will be counted on to produce more this year. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

North Forsyth (0-0) at Woodstock (0-0) – The Wolverines beat North Forsyth in last season’s opener, 7-0, but what they’ll be focusing on the most tonight is turning around their losing ways from last year. lost three of its last four games and lost its leading rusher and quarterback to graduation. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
