Friday Football Preview: Rivalry Night

One of the fiercest rivalries around rekindles tonight at Etowah High School.

Woodstock (4-3, 1-2) at Etowah (4-4, 2-2) – When and Etowah meet, in any sport, there’s no telling what might happen. Not only is this a cross-town rivalry, but it’s also a Region 5-AAAAA rivalry and the schools sit just two miles apart off the same street. The Eagles were supposed to be a force in region play but injuries have taken a toll. If the Wolverines can manage a road win, they’ll leapfrog in the standings and sit in a strong spot to grab the final playoff spot in the region.

Lanier (2-1) at River Ridge (6-1) – is back on track with consecutive wins after a hiccup on Sept. 30. The Knights have scored 40 or more points four times this season with a punishing ground attack. They’ll look to establish that same pounding attack early tonight.
