Hobgood Heat Wins Dizzy Dean World Series

The Heat defeated Tennessee's Hixson Havoc with a 13-1 victory.

Towne Lake's own Hobgood Baseball has announced its 7U Hobgood Heat All-Star baseball team has won the Dizzy Dean World Series championship.

The Heat defeated Tennessee's Hixson Havoc with a 13-1 victory in the July 25 game. The Heat had an impressive 8-0 record and outscored their opponents 119-13 before cruising to victory in the world series. 

The Heat’s Joe Nevle was also awarded the tournament's Most Valuable Player and the following Heat players were named to the All-Tournament Team: Caleb Hughes, Brooks McKenna, Joe Nevle and Jake Zehner.

The 7U Hobgood Heat's overall summer record was 45-2 and they outscoring their opponents 635-167.

The team competed in nine tournaments this summer and brought home eight championship titles. They also won back-to-back District Three and Georgia state championship titles in consecutive seasons.

Team members include: Bryce Bessho, Zac Calabrese, Carter Gilliam, Jack Hartman, Evan Holstein, Caleb Hughes, Brooks McKenna, Joe Nevle, Logan Stradley, Jack Strickland, Jake Zehner, and Cody Cason (Alternate). Coaching Staff includes: Nick Bessho, Head Coach; Todd Holstein, Assistant Coach; Matt McKenna, Assistant Coach; Mark Nevle, Assistant Coach; and Dave Zehner, Assistant Coach.
