The Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency has recruited an NBA trainer to teach what he knows about the game of basketball to young athletes who want to improve their skills.

David Hudson will showcase his skills and knowledge of the sport in an Elite Youth Basketball Camp, which is a four-week program based upon the building blocks of basketball.

This program is $75 for the entire four weeks, and each session will be 90 minutes on four consecutive Sundays starting June 8.

The times are:

  • 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.: ages: 6-8
  • 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.: ages 9-10
  • 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: ages 11-13

The sessions will take place at CRPA's Recreation Center at 7545 Main Street in Woodstock.

To register, visit CRPA's website and click on Register Online tab at the top right side of the page. Once on that page, scroll down and click on Youth Athletes on the left hand side of the screen.

Residents should make sure they are registering their children for the appropriate age group and time slot.

Athletes should dress in proper basketball attire, and bring their own basketball and water.

Residents should also plan to arrive 20 minutes early for check-in at the beginning of each session.
