Each Monday we'll take a look at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in Woodstock-Towne Lake Patch.

High school football is back and now every team in the area has at least one game under its belt. Here’s a brief look at the football action from the weekend in Woodstock-Towne Lake Patch

Woodstock 14, North Forsyth 8 – Jonathan Wiener and Pryce Washington both took snaps under center Friday, leading to a hard-earned victory. While Wiener used his feet to gain most of his 157 all-purpose yards, Washington did his damage through the air, completing the first five passes he threw.

“We shot ourselves in the foot too many times,” said head coach Brent Budde on his team’s need to regroup and play without as many turnovers and penalties. “We got put in pressure situations where we didn’t excel like we need to.”

Etowah 49, Berkmar 14 – rumbled for 336 yards on the ground Friday on the road at Berkmar, and both quarterbacks, Mike Lanier and John Oliver, were effective, connecting for three touchdowns.

“We were able to run the football early,” said head coach Bill Stewart . “David Guerrero gave us a spark in the backfield.”

Guerrero led all rushers with 121 yards and a touchdown and Brandon Engle chipped in 108 yards.
