If you're suffering from domestic violence, get help now.

He-Law is an attorney's Office in Woodstock, GA. If you're suffering from domestic violence, get help now.

If you are suffering from domestic violence, you are not alone. In a new study released by the Georgia Coalition against Domestic Violence, Georgia was ranked 15th in the state with the most domestic violence disputes. In the last year alone, Georgia police responded to over 72,000 domestic violence incidents and 835 Georgians lost their life to domestic violence.

If your current or ex spouse or partner threatens to/does harm you, immediately call the police to file a report. If there is proof of the altercation or threats, police must remove the perpetrator for the night. He/she may be removed for the night depending on the circumstances. As soon as you have established your safety, it is important that you go to your local police station and file for a temporary protective order (tpo). Several court systems offer an administrative assistance program that allows you to complete the paperwork for no fee. If your protective order is granted, the perpetrator is required to stay away from you, can be ordered to pay temporary child support, and be ordered out of the house. If you have children, they are also protected under the protective order.

Within 30 days of the grant of the protective order, a court hearing will be held. Do not attend this hearing without attorney representation. The attorneys at He-Law in Woodstock represent both men and women that have been harmed or threatened in domestic violence cases. If someone is hurting you, get help now.Β
