Fishing for a Cause

An Etowah High School student organized a fishing tournament with all proceeds going to the Cherokee County Chapter of the Yellow Ribbon Foundation for Suicide Prevention and Awareness.

Taylor Thompson, senior at , organized a fishing tournament for his senior project in memory of his friend, Connor Merritt. All the proceeds from the tournament and the raffle went to the Cherokee County Chapter of the Yellow Ribbon Foundation for Suicide Prevention and Awareness.

Judy Merritt, Connor's mother, is working to get awareness in the schools and around the county. She said her hope is to have training for all teachers and counselors and information readily available for all students.

Thompson and Merritt both plan to continue the "Live On" Fishing Tournament in Connor's memory.
