Woodstock Bookstore Owners Donate Books to Tornado Victims

Joseph and Donna Stewart will donate books collected in a drive they organized to Moore Public Schools in Oklahoma.

Public schools in Moore, Oklahoma, devastated by a tornado in May will soon receive some new books courtesy of Cherokee County residents.

Husband and wife team Joseph and Donna Stewart, owners of Book Browser in Woodstock, organized the book donation drive after a friend who is a retired teacher asked what could be done to help those hit by the tornado.

The Stewarts, who both are employed at Cherokee High School, reached out to officials with Moore Public Schools, and was advised on what books were needed and how best to deliver any books donated.

Books donated to Moore will be given mostly to Briarwood, Plaza Towers and Highland East, according to the the Cherokee Ledger-News.

Next Thursday, the Stewarts will leave for Oklahoma "with a truck and large trailer full of school age books (preK-12) to give them for their classrooms and families," the couple wrote in an email to Cherokee County School District colleagues on Friday.
"Just wanted to say thanks to all that helped us with our book drive to support Moore Public schools," they added.
