Mardi Gras Comes to Downtown Woodstock

Friday's Mardi Gras on Main celebration serves as the opening of the 2014 season of Friday Night Live.

Woodstock's flagship Friday Night Live party on Main Street is just two days away.

As expected, the first event for the 2014 season, presented by Bank of North Georgia, will celebrate Mardi Gras on Main Street.

The party will start at 6 p.m., and will feature a Mardi Gras king and queen contest and the Mardi Gras parade.

The parade starts at 8 p.m. and will march from Ipp's Pastaria to the gazebo at the Park at City Center. The king and queen will be crowned at the gazebo following the parade.

New this year is the chance residents will have to throw pies at Etowah High School teachers. A fundraising project  to support the Etowah High School senior class gift, residents can pay $1 to throw a pie at participating teachers.

The pie throwing will start at 6 p.m. at the Park at City Center.

A full list of businesses participating in the festivities and offering special deals can be found on Main Street Woodstock's event website.
