Thanksgiving Travel Remains Steady In Georgia

AAA South predicts little change in travel patterns and the National Weather Service says temperatures will drop by the weekend.

About 1.2 million people across the state of Georgia, including Cherokee County residents, will travel 50 or more miles away from home for the holiday weekend, according to AAA South. That's just a sliver of the projected 43.6 million people who are expected to travel around the country between Wednesday and Sunday to visit family and friends for Thanksgiving. That's 0.7 percent higher than the 43.3 million people who traveled last year.  The majority of those people, 9.1 million, are expected to travel by car while another 3.1 million are expected to travel by air this year.
