Teen Apologizes for Stealing Flags

Towne Lake Optimist Club president said teen won't be charged

The teenager who was arrested for stealing flags last week throughout Towne Lake apologized to the Towne Lake Optimist Club for his actions. Club President Matt Halloran said the 16-year-old, accompanied by his mother, expressed his feelings to the club during its lunch meeting on Wednesday. Halloran said the teen told the audience he "was bored that day and that he didn't realize the impact of his actions." He added the teen got "very emotional" as he talked to the members of the club. "It took a lot of courage to get up and say something like that," Halloran added. The Cherokee Sheriff's Office last Friday reported nine flags had been stolen throughout Towne Lake, including two from Running Deer Parkway, two from Towne Lake Hills South …

Teen Arrested in Missing Flag Case

Nine custom-made flags were placed at several locations by the Towne Lake Optimist Club.

A 16-year-old was arrested this weekend in connection with the disappearance of nine American flags in Towne Lake. According to CBS Atlanta, Cherokee sheriff's deputies received an anonymous tip Saturday evening that a truck parked at Hobgood Park had one of the custom-made flags displayed in the bed of the vehicle. The teen was arrested, charged with theft by receiving and released to a parent. The flags, estimated to be worth $40 each, had been placed at several locations by the Towne Lake Optimist Club. Flags Taken From Towne Lake Locations

Nine American flags in the Towne Lake area of Woodstock were stolen on Labor Day.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office announced that nine custom-made flags were taken. On Friday Cherokee County Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said the flags had been placed at several locations by the Towne Lake Optimist Club. Two flags were taken from Running Deer Parkway, two from Towne Lake Hills South Drive, two from in front of the Wendy's on Towne Lake Parkway, one from Victoria Road, one from Township Drive and one from in front of the Chick-fil-A on Towne Lake Parkway.
