Cherokee County Commissioner-elect Brian Poole will soon take office as the new commissioner for District 3 in Cherokee County. He will follow Karen Bosch, who decided not to seek re-election to a third term in office. Poole, 39, is the funeral home manager at Woodstock Funeral Home. He graduated with an associate's degree in funeral science from Gupton Jones College of Funeral Science and he is in the midst of obtaining his bachelor's degree in finance from Liberty University. Poole and wife Amy have two daughters and live in Towne Lake. They are members of First Baptist Church of Woodstock. The Cherokee County Board of Elections will meet today at 10 a.m. to decide whether County Commissioner-elect Brian Poole is eligible to assume his post in January. The board, which will render the decision during its regular meeting, will make the tabled the matter during a called meeting last Wednesday in Canton. Poole has been accused by eight residents for not paying state and local sales taxes in the state of Alabama. Poole allegedly owes $38,599.09 in sales taxes in the neighboring state. He has no Democratic opponent in Tuesday's election and, if the board rules in favor of him, he will be sworn into his District 3 Commission post in January.

The Cherokee County Board of Elections held off on making a decision regarding the eligibility of County Commissioner-elect Brian Poole. The board deferred action until its regular meeting at 10 a.m. Monday at the Albert Stone Elections building in downtown Canton. All five board members did not make any comments, but Chairman Randy Gravely said the board will issue an "official" opinion during the meeting. Poole has been accused by eight residents – Chris Hampton, Scott Ault, Teisha Ault, Jamey Cagle, Connie Miller, Bryan Roach, Eric Love and Linda Flory – for not paying state and local sales taxes in the state of Alabama. The case against County Commissioner-elect Brian Poole won't be going away any time soon. The Cherokee County Board of Elections voted to schedule an administrative hearing to consider allegations against County Commissioner-Elect Brian Poole. The hearing will held at 10 a.m. Wednesday Oct. 31. County Attorney Angela Davis said the board will meet at Cherokee Hall, located on the bottom floor of the Cherokee County Administration Building in Canton. A group is calling into question the eligibility of Cherokee County Commissioner-elect Brian Poole. The group of residents, represented by Canton attorney Jeff Rusbridge, believe Poole is not qualified to assume the seat on Jan. 1, 2013. Rusbridge on Friday sent the letter to Cherokee County Elections and Voter Registration Supervisor Janet Munda, requesting she schedule a hearing to consider the allegations before the Nov. 6 election. The residents state Poole has not paid state and local sales taxes in the state of Alabama. Poole allegedly owes $38,599.09 in sales taxes in the neighboring state.
