A company based in the Netherlands will move a sliver of its workforce into Cherokee County. Vanderlande Industries will move into a facility located within the Northpoint Industrial Park off Highway 92 near Interstate 75 in the extreme southwestern part of the county. The Cherokee Office of Economic Development announced the news on Tuesday during the Cherokee County Commission's work session. Vanderlande Industries, an automated material handling systems and service company, will lease 95,000 square feet of space inside MDH Partner’s 240 Northpoint Parkway building. Woodstock students and their parents learned about local businesses Thursday at the second annual Downtown Woodstock Business Expo.
Several hundred Woodstock High School students and parents attended Thursday's Business Expo put on by Woodstock's downtown business owners. The event brought local business owners face-to-face with potential parttime employees and open the eyes of students to the array of shops and stores outside the local malls, said Kyle Bennett, operations director of Woodstock's tourism program. The Main Street Woodstock business development program hosted the event for the second year and this year's turnout increased , Bennett said . "I bet the seniors at our local High Schools probably have no idea what is going on here or how much fun they could have at our events," Mitzi Saxon wrote in the July issue of the Main Street Woodstock INSIDER. …

This should really state relocate because the rent/lease is cheaper. I do not believe that Buzz or the Office of Economic Development should be patting themselves on the back for a measley 12 jobs. What sort of tax breaks did they get for relocating from Cobb to Cherokee? Probably more than twelve jobs are worth. That is where they are relocating from isn't it? Shouldn't that be part of the story?   more ›
