Downtown Woodstock businesses are going to school to help students.
On Thursday Woodstock's downtown business owners will set up displays and talk business with students at Woodstock High School. The event will bring local business owners face-to-face with potential parttime employees and open the eyes of students to the array of shops and stores outside the local malls, said Main Street Woodstock director Mitzi Saxon. "I bet the seniors at our local High Schools probably have no idea what is going on here or how much fun they could have at our events," Saxon wrote in the July issue of the Main Street Woodstock INSIDER. The deadline for the Woodstock High School Business Expo is 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Main Street Woodstock is hosting a Business Expo for Woodstock High School students Aug. 16, and booths are still open for local businesses. This expo is geared toward students working on their Senior Projects where they must shadow a professional for approxiamtely 15 hours within the school year. Woodstock High has 480 seniors that are seeking mentors for their projects. "Our hope is to match students with businesses and entrepreneurs to facilitate better senior projects and to promote the local business community," said Billly Peppers, Main Street Woodstock president.
