Barrel and Barley is renovating the former location of Brenda's House of Flowers on Main Street to suit their needs.
Woodstock could soon become home to a craft beer market. Barrel and Barley Craft Beer Market is planning to open up at 9010 Main Street in downtown Woodstock. It's the previous location of Brenda's House of Flowers, which recently moved to 200 Chambers Street. They are currently renovating the location to suit their needs, according to its Facebook page. Barrel and Barley will bring a large selection of beers from around the world to the area, according to an email blast. They will feature Georgia-based breweries as well, such as Reformation Brewery, Terrapin and Wild Heaven Craft Beers. Main Street Woodstock's annual Farmers Market will kick off on May 25 and dozens of vendors are ready to go.
Woodstock residents will soon have a chance to shop for fresh produce, homemade products and baked goods virtually in their own backyards. Main Street Woodstock's Farmers Market, presented by Cherokee Bank, will begin later this month on May 25. The market will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each Saturday through Oct. 26 in the parking lot behind the Chambers at City Center/Elm Street Arts facility. Twenty-five vendors have signed up for the market, and the city receives about three applications each week, said Kyle Bennett, assistant director of tourism and visitor center operations for the Woodstock Visitors Center at Dean's Store. The executive chef is anxious to get started in a new role at Century House Tavern.
Century House Tavern's new executive chef is ready to dive head first into his new role. Daniel Porubiansky of Towne Lake will become the new executive chef at the downtown Woodstock restaurant at the beginning of May. "I’ve been the number two guy in the top two restaurants in Atlanta for the last 20 years," he said in a press release from the Woodstock restaurant. "It’s time to try this on my own. It’s every chef's dream to have their own restaurant, and what better place to take on this challenge than in my hometown." Daniel Porubiansky, executive chef at Bacchanalia, will become the new chef at the restaurant in downtown Woodstock.
A new face will join one of downtown Woodstock's most popular restaurants. Daniel Porubiansky, the executive chef at Bacchanalia, is slated to join the staff at Century House Tavern as its new executive chef, according to Atlanta Magazine. Porubinsky, who lives in Towne Lake, has been working with Atlanta-area restaurants for 20 years, the magazine states. He will officially start at the restaurant, located in the old Hubbard house, in May. He told the magazine he has plans to consider making some changes to Century House's menu. Show Me Off Again plans to transition into a solely online retail operation by mid- to late-April.
While another Woodstock business plans to shutter its physical location, but they aren't completely abandoning its customers. Show Me Off Again will close its retail store located on Main Street and operate solely on line, said owner Samantha Black. Show Me Off Again, a consignment store for baby and children's clothing and gear, opened up shop at 8926 Main Street in 2012. Black said the store started selling its inventory online and sales have "taken off" so much that they can't juggle both running the store and the online portion of the business. Woodstock Art & Glass has announced it plans to close its store on April 1, according to its Facebook page. A woman named Karen on Wednesday answered the company's phone at the store and confirmed the store's last day will be on April 1, but declined to provide any more details. Patch also reached out to co-owner Analisa Guay, but she has yet to respond to requests for information. The company in 2011 moved into the former location of Priest Home Furnishings. Two ribbon cuttings were held to celebrate the opening of Woodstock West by Walton Communities and Market Street.
A new residential development has officially opened up to prospective tenants. Woodstock West by Walton, a 308-unit upscale apartment complex, held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of their development, which sits just west of Main Street in downtown Woodstock. The ribbon cutting was held by Main Street Woodstock, which also held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of Market Street. Market Street is one of many streets the city of Woodstock has planned for its grid network, a set of streets that would be built on the west side of Main Street to make it easier to navigate the downtown area.
