Winners Crowned in Woodstock Mardi Gras Parade

The Mardi Gras parade kicked off the city's annual Friday Night Live series.

Several hundred residents braved the cold, blistery conditions to celebrate the kick-off event for Woodstock's Friday Night Live Series. March's theme, Mardi Gras on Main, featured a Mardi Gras parade and the naming of a king and queen of the event. This year, Woodstock City Clerk Rhonda Pezzello was named the queen while Dominique Amin with Bridal Exchange Boutique was named the king of this year's event. About 750 people attended this year's event, said Kyle Bennett, assistant director of tourism and visitor center operations for the city. Kurt Thomas Band, Whiskey Gentry To Perform At 'Trailfest'

The Greenprints Alliance has finalized its list of music acts for Trailfest 2013, which will be held on March 23.

Organizers behind the fourth annual Trailfest 2013 have released the final line up for its music acts for its festival slated to hit Woodstock later this month.  The Whiskey Gentry and the Kurt Thomas Band, among others, will headline the festival organized by Greenprints Alliance, which is slated for 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. March 23 in downtown Woodstock.  Having recently been chosen by Paste Magazine as the "Best of What’s Next," The Whiskey Gentry have established themselves among the Atlanta music elite. They have shared the stage with artists such as Doc Watson, Old Crow Medicine Show, Rhett Miller of the Old 97s, John Popper, Ed Roland of Collective Soul, Chatham County Line and Slobberbone. Farmers Market, Friday Night Live Return To Woodstock

Two popular events in downtown Woodstock will soon make a comeback.

Downtown Woodstock will soon see two of its most popular events return to its streets. Next Friday, March 1, is the start of the long-running Friday Night Live series, which includes festivities throughout the downtown area.  Participating businesses usually stay open later and have activities going on at their stores related to the theme of the month. March's theme will be Mardi Gras on Main. The event typically includes a Mardi Gras parade and the crowning of a king and queen of the event. The Main Street Woodstock Farmers Market will also soon return to downtown Woodstock. Woodstock Mayor Donnie Henriques gave his annual State of the City address during Monday's City Council meeting.

'Trailfest' Brings Food, Music To Downtown Woodstock

The Greenprints Alliance' annual festival, which is designed to draw attention to its purpose of raising money to build trails, will be held on March 23.

An event that draws thousands to Woodstock in an effort to raise money to build trails will return in March.  Greenprints Alliance's Trailfest 2013 is set for March 23 in downtown Woodstock.  The event, originally coined Streetfest, is going into its fourth year. "After extensive focus groups and market research, we decided to gear the event to a more trail focused theme and event," the organization noted on its Facebook event page. "It took as a very long time to come up with this rebrand of the event." The event will take place at the Park at City Center and blends music, activities, food and entertainment with education about the organization's efforts to raise money to expand the city's trail network.  Some of the musical acts that …

Woodstock-based Elm Street Arts Gets Donation For Land

Two companies have donated nearly $20,000 to be used towards building the event lawn at the future site of Elm Street Arts.

Two companies have donated tens of thousands of dollars in materials to complete the event green for the Elm Street Cultural Arts Village.  Austin Outdoor, based in central Florida, and Atlanta-based Highland Waterworks, Inc. donated nearly $20,000 worth of materials and labor to build the event green portion of four acres Elm Street Arts plans to move to in the near future.  "Elm Street fits in perfectly with the type of projects we like to assist in our corporate outreach program," said Brian Wester, regional vice president of Austin Outdoor. Jim Hester, president of Highland Waterworks, added his company was "happy to be involved in this community effort." Walton Communities, which is building an apartment complex in downtown Woodstock…

Woodstock's 'Friday Night Live' Starts in March

Main Street Woodstock has announced the themes of this year's Friday Night Live series.

Main Street Woodstock has announced its 2013 themes for its popular Friday Night Live Events. The series are held on the first Fridays between March and October of this year,  This year's themes are:  Friday Night Live, which includes festivities throughout the downtown area, allows participating businesses to stay open later and have activities going on at their stores related to the theme of the month.  The downtown festival typically is held between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.  For more information, call the Woodstock Visitor's Center at Dean's Store at (770) 924-0406.

Walton West By Woodstock Opens Office

The apartment complex located just off Main Street in downtown Woodstock believe move-ins can start on Feb. 1.

The long-awaited apartment complex under construction in downtown Woodstock will open its offices to the public tomorrow. Woodstock West By Walton will open to the public on Tuesday. The new leasing center is located at 735 Market Street, which runs parallel just west of Main Street. The center's hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call (678) 946-0011 for more information or directions. The company, which believes its first move-ins will start around Feb. 1, will offer up-scale one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment homes.
