Early voting for the July 31 general primary begins today in Cherokee County. Don't forget to bring identification with you to the polls. It's three days till Election Day, and Cherokee County's registered voters have already had the chance to voice their opinions with early voting that started Feb. 13. The county had 7,376 early votes cast this week, out of the 136,000 registered active and inactive voters, Cherokee Elections Supervisor Janet Munda said. Although both groups are eligible to vote, Munda said the 120,000 active voters will be what's quantified in the fall's election. Another 764 individuals requested mail-in ballots. During the last Presidential Preference election in 2008, Cherokee had approximately 120,000 registered voters. Of that number, 5,324 voted early. Another 855 requested mail-in ballots. Election Day is March 6, and polls will be open from 7 a.m. …

My husband went to vote at Rose Creek after walking. He completed the information page and then was abruptly stopped and told he could not vote. He had on an old Linder shirt. It had no party affiliation just Linder's name. He assured the poll worker that John Linder was retired. He was told he could only vote if he went to the restroom and turned his shirt inside out.
