The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for today and a freeze warning for tonight.
Woodstock and Towne Lake are under a wind advisory until 6 p.m. today. While the winds will slow, the weather will only get colder as a freeze warning goes into effect at 2 a.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service has issued the freeze warning and wind advisory for all of North and Central Georgia. Winds are out of the west at 15-25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph. These winds could knock medium to large limbs from trees and even blow down weak or drought stressed trees. A freeze warning is set for portions of northern and western Georgia, including Cherokee County early Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Effective from 2 to 9 a.m. Friday, it warns temperatures could dip into the low 30s and frost can be expected overnight. "Cool, dry pressure will continue to build in the area into Friday, resulting in clear skies and light winds," the warning says. "Temperatures overnight will drop into the mid 30s across north and central Georgia and into the low 30s in the northern and western portions of the state." The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a freeze warning for north and west central Georgia. The warning will be in effect between 8 p.m. Tuesday evening to 10 a.m. Wednesday. Temperatures are expected to drop into the lower 30s tonight and through Wednesday morning. Winds are also expected to be brisk tonight, coming form the northwest at 15 to 25 miles per hour, with gusts up to 40 miles per hour. Winds are expected to remain strong throughout the evening, which will make driving difficult for high profile vehicles. Drivers are advised to use extra caution and boaters should also use caution as strong winds could produce a rough chop on area lakes.
