The Mardi Gras parade kicked off the city's annual Friday Night Live series.
Several hundred residents braved the cold, blistery conditions to celebrate the kick-off event for Woodstock's Friday Night Live Series. March's theme, Mardi Gras on Main, featured a Mardi Gras parade and the naming of a king and queen of the event. This year, Woodstock City Clerk Rhonda Pezzello was named the queen while Dominique Amin with Bridal Exchange Boutique was named the king of this year's event. About 750 people attended this year's event, said Kyle Bennett, assistant director of tourism and visitor center operations for the city. Two popular events in downtown Woodstock will soon make a comeback.
Downtown Woodstock will soon see two of its most popular events return to its streets. Next Friday, March 1, is the start of the long-running Friday Night Live series, which includes festivities throughout the downtown area. Participating businesses usually stay open later and have activities going on at their stores related to the theme of the month. March's theme will be Mardi Gras on Main. The event typically includes a Mardi Gras parade and the crowning of a king and queen of the event. The Main Street Woodstock Farmers Market will also soon return to downtown Woodstock. Main Street Woodstock has announced the themes of this year's Friday Night Live series.
Main Street Woodstock has announced its 2013 themes for its popular Friday Night Live Events. The series are held on the first Fridays between March and October of this year, This year's themes are: Friday Night Live, which includes festivities throughout the downtown area, allows participating businesses to stay open later and have activities going on at their stores related to the theme of the month. Free music, merchandise discounts and giveaways are planned for Friday.
Spend Friday evening in downtown Woodstock and enjoy the many restaurants and stores that the area has to offer as the Downtown Merchants stay open late. This Friday's theme is the Great Downtown Tailgate and you are invited to show your team spirit and wear your favorite team's gear to the event. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. participating merchants will have activities at their stores and throughout the downtown area related to the start of the football season. Woodstock crowds emerged on Friday night to revel in a downtown-wide tailgate-themed party that included merchants, musicians, artists and football players.
The Friday Night Live series is a themed street festival held the first Friday of every month. Participating downtown merchants and restauranteurs stay open late for the event and plan special activities for their customers according to the theme. The remaining events for 2011 will include Oktoberfest on Oct. 7, Main Street Woodstock Art and Wine Festival on Nov. 4 and Christmas on Main Dec. 2. Woodstock's popular downtown shopping party is back after the holiday season.
After a brief hiatus for the winter holiday, Friday Night Live returns to Woodstock this week, with an exciting new theme that is sure to draw the crowds back to Main Street. Main Street World Tour is the name of the game tomorrow night, and to honor that creative notion, a number of store owners have detailed their shops to reflect a different country for shoppers to "travel" through. In many cases, the country assigned to each business will reflect what that business is known for. For instance, Pure Taqueria will be representing Mexico, while Seven Arrows, owned by Friday Night Live co-creator Chery West, will be the Navajo Nation.
