Readers respond to GDOT request for input.

Yesterday we told you about some public input meetings the Georgia Department of Transportation has planned regarding improvements to SR 20 from Cherokee County to Cumming. Today, we let you know how readers from Cherokee and Cumming responded on Patch and our Facebook sites: On Canton Patch: How about they finish what they have started. The construction from Macedonia to Union hill has been going on forever. Recently, it doesn't appear that any work has been done. What is the hold up. The road is not currently safe to drive with all the temporary markings. Finish something sooner than later. I agree with above comment - this work has been going on for 3 years nearly and no one has been on the job since November of last year. My vehicle …

Officials with the Georgia Department of Transportation believe the new Ridgewalk Parkway interchange could open to traffic next Friday.

UPDATE 9:58 a.m. – the city issues the following statement on the status of the interchange: Well you may have already heard or read the good news, but I thought this update should be sent out just in case you haven’t. The Interchange contractor has provided GDOT and the City of Woodstock with a hard date of Friday, November 16, 2012 as the opening of all four of the ramps to and from I-575, and full use of the new bridge at Ridgewalk Parkway and I-575. Everyone has been very patient and cooperative during the past 21 months, and the city appreciates how well things have gone with this project despite the inconveniences it has presented residents and visitors to the area at times. In some ways it is hard to believe that construction …
