Chip Rogers will make more than Gov. Nathan Deal and Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle each make in their public jobs when the former state Senator starts his new job Tuesday earning $150,000. The AJC reports that he'll be the seventh executive at Georgia Public Broadcasting earning six-figures annually, despite a rather pedestrian title: Executive producer, community jobs program. The position is paid solely through state taxpayers’ money. Rogers quit the state Senate less than a month after his re-election to his seat to take the position with GPB, which he said "is like a dream come true." Ending nearly two days of speculation, Brandon Beach has announced his plans to run for the Senate District 21 seat. Beach on Wednesday evening formally made his intentions known to the public to run for the seat, which has been vacated by former Senator Chip Rogers after he abruptly resigned Tuesday afternoon. A Holly Springs Republican state legislator has tossed his hat into the ring to run for the Georgia Senate. Sean Jerguson confirmed to Patch early Wednesday afternoon that he will run for the Georgia Senate District 21 seat, which encompasses the eastern half of Cherokee County, Alpharetta and Milton. The seat is now vacant as former Sen. Chip Rogers of Woodstock abruptly resigned from the position on Tuesday. Rogers, who has served as majority leader for four years, said in a emailed statement he decided not to seek re-election, noting the "toll of serving my caucus was taking too much from my family."
