A house fire that broke out just west of Woodstock early Tuesday morning took the lives of two pets. Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a fire at a home at 1551 Wildwood Drive near Highway 92 at around 7 a.m. Tuesday. A caller told a Cherokee County E-911 dispatcher that flames were seen coming from the roof of the one-story home. Once first responders arrived on the scene, they discovered "heavy flames" coming from the home's roof line, according to a press release from Cherokee County Fire. The homeowner told authorities that a family of four was renting the home from him at the time of the fire. A man and woman suffered second degree burns in an early Saturday morning fire near Canton. Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services personnel were dispatched to a fire at 11258 Bells Ferry Road just south of Butterworth Road near Canton shortly after 2:15 a.m. Fire fighters arrived on the scene and discovered heavy flames coming from the one-story home. The two occupants inside were awaken by a smoke alarm, but suffered injuries from the blaze. A 36-year-old man received second-degree burns to his shoulders and a 31-year-old woman also received second-degree burns to her left shoulder.
