Billy Peppers' last day will be on Nov. 30.
Woodstock officials want to wait before diving into the search to replace its director of economic services. City Manager Jeff Moon said he plans to move slower on the quest to fill Billy Peppers' shoes. Peppers announced Wednesday that he will stepping down as the city's director of economic services. His last day with the city will be on Nov. 30 and he will start his new position with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. Peppers will work in the department's Community Development & Finance Division. "We will take a couple of weeks and look at how we want to approach filling Billy’s position," Moon said. "With his position and community development director open, we will evaluate our current organizational structure and see if we…

Two outside audits showed that the vity of Woodstock's finance department kept poor records.
Woodstock's CFO resigned last week under the threat of being fired. Henry Bucci resigned Jan. 26, three days after the mayor and City Council decided during an executive session to terminate his employment, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The newspaper reports that two outside audits showed the city's finance department had been keeping poor records, such as making at least two late payments to employees' voluntary contribution retirement plans in 2009 and neglecting to note a $600,000 payment on a water and sewer bond. That was an oversight by a subordinate but ultimately was his responsibility, Bucci told the AJC. Bucci was fired from the city of East Point before coming to work for the city of Woodstock, and, one year after …

The City of Woodstock approved The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta in mid-December to move forward, but they've hit a bump in the road costing $700,000.
The City of Woodstock has a long road ahead of them before they could be seeing a 365,000-square-foot mall on the north side of Main Street. Right now, they are concentrating on altering that road instead of worrying about a competing outlet mall only 10 miles across town or even the possibility of not having funding to complete existing outlined projects. Both Woodstock and Ridgewalk parkways that run perpendicular to each other are set to be relocated, but the focus at the moment is on $700,000 for Ridgewalk Parkway. The Ridgewalk project is $2.77 million, with $2.7 million coming from the current SPLOST for road infrastructure projects, said Billy Peppers, director of Economic Development. Even if the outlet mall isn’t built, the road …
