Ridgewalk Widening, Police Car Purchase On Woodstock Agenda

The Woodstock City Council tonight will consider purchasing police vehicles and hear and update on the widening of Ridgewalk Parkway.

The Woodstock City Council tonight will consider obtaining a SunTrust loan to purchase police vehicles during its regular meeting. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Chambers at City Center. The council will consider approving a resolution to authorize Mayor Donnie Henriques to execute documents to obtain the loan from SunTrust Bank.   This loan will be used for the financing of four police cars out of the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax funds, which total $146,000. Council members will also hear an update to the widening of Ridgewalk Parkway, which started last week; hear a request from Cherokee County for the city to financially contribute to a "shared" economic development position; consider changing the administrative …

Ridgewalk Parkway Widening To Start This Week

The road's widening will be done ahead of the opening of the Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta.

With one road project under its belt, the city of Woodstock will soon start another one. Motorists should expect the widening of Ridgewalk Parkway to start some time this week. The road will be widened between the Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta's main entrance and Ridge Trail.  The Woodstock City Council last month unanimously approved an agreement Community & Southern Bank to use a loan to pay for the road improvements.  The loan amount was approved at $2.7 million, with a 1.85 percent interest rate fixed for three years.  The agreement called for the loan to be secured with up to $2.7 million in Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, or SPLOST, IV dollars.  The city, along with Horizon Properties, the outlet mall's developer, and Cherokee …
