Woodstock To Honor Veterans

The city's annual ceremony will be held on Sunday.

  Woodstock residents looking for a ceremony to honor veterans won't have to go very far from their homes. The city of Woodstock on Monday will hold its annual Veterans Day ceremony. The event, held in conjunction with the American Legion Post 316 and the Marine Corps League Detachment 1311, will be held at 7 p.m. at the Park at City Center. The candlelight ceremony will feature special guest speakers, the Together In Harmony choral group, guitarist Kareem Rea and the Etowah High School Air Force JROTC. As a special tribute to our Vietnam veterans, the city will include songs from that era, yellow ribbons and each Vietnam Vet attending will receive a P-51 Can Opener provided by the Warriors’ Watch Riders. Website Helps Returning Veterans Find Jobs

New initiatives launched by Governor's Office of Workforce Development includes Operation: Workforce website for companies to list job opportunities for veterans.

  Gov. Nathan Deal and the Governor’s Office of Workforce Development on Thursday launched Operation: Workforce to help returning veterans find jobs. Job listings from companies across Georgia who are looking to fill their positions with veterans are posted on the website. The website also includes information on resources and services available to veterans. GOWD also kicked off the Hire a Georgia Veteran campaign. This campaign consists of a “Pledge to Support Georgia’s Veterans” for employers to sign. Employers who sign the pledge commit to give enhanced hiring opportunities to veterans. “Serving Georgia’s veterans is a top priority for the Governor’s Office of Workforce Development,” said Executive Director Tricia Pridemore in a press …

City Remembers on Veterans Day

Here is the information you need to know Friday, Nov. 11.

1. It's going to be a chilly Veterans Day will a high of 55 degrees and a low of 31, according to the National Weather Service. 2. The City of Woodstock and the American Legion Post 316 are hosting the annual Veterans Day Ceremony tonight at 7 in the Park at City Center. There will be guest speakers, live performances and a Candlelight Ceremony. Collection boxes for torn flags are at the Woodstock Fire Department and next to the Memorial in the Park. 3. E.T. City Hosts Veterans Day Ceremony

The Candlelight Ceremony will start at 7 p.m. in the Park at City Center.

The City of Woodstock along with the American Legion Post 316 will present the annual Veterans Day Ceremony Friday. The Candlelight Ceremony which will start at 7 p.m. in the Park at City Center is open to the public and veterans and families are invited. Speakers include Col. Ret. Quentin M. Thomas; Chester Reeves, WWII Burma Veteran; Irma Martin, Commander of the American Legion Post 316; and Tom Hunt, Warriors Watch. Council Member Tessa Basford will present the Veterans Day Proclamation on behalf of the City of Woodstock. State Rep. Charlice Byrd will present the Red Poppy Proclamation.
