40 mph Wind Gusts Today, Freezing Temperatures Tonight in Woodstock

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for today and a freeze warning for tonight.

Woodstock and Towne Lake are under a wind advisory until 6 p.m. today. While the winds will slow, the weather will only get colder as a freeze warning goes into effect at 2 a.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service has issued the freeze warning and wind advisory for all of North and Central Georgia. Winds are out of the west at 15-25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph. These winds could knock medium to large limbs from trees and even blow down weak or drought stressed trees. Temperatures overnight and early Tuesday will be in the middle to upper 20s in the higher elevations, but elsewhere in the lower 30s. The freeze warning is in effect from 2-10 a.m. Tuesday morning. Gusts in Forecast Lead to Wind Advisory

The National Weather Service says the wind gusts will last all day.

The winds will blow on Wednesday, so watch out for falling tree limbs blowing debris and be extra careful driving if you have a high-profile vehicle. The National Weather Service in Peachtree City issued a wind advisory from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on Wednesday. A wind advisory means that sustained wind speeds of at least 20 mph, or gusts to 35 mph or stronger are expected. Winds will be out of the west rom 15-25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph. Rain Will Give Way to Gusting Wind, Creating Driving Hazards

A wind advisory has been forecast for tonight and Friday, with gusts as high as 40 mph possible.

  As the pouring rain this morning showed us it's a wet day and expect it to stay that way. The National Weather Service forecast for Woodstock and Towne Lake put the chance for rain at 100 percent this afternoon, dropping to 40 percent tonight. Rainfall amounts between a quarter and a half of an inch are possible. It will get pretty cool tonight, with a low around 29. Rain won't be a problem, but wind will.
