Wing & Rock Fest Will Return To Woodstock

The 8th annual 97.1 The River Wing & Rock Fest is set for May 31-June 2 in downtown Woodstock.

The 8th annual 97.1 The River Wing & Rock Fest is set to return to Woodstock later this year. The festival, organized by USA Entertainment, Inc., will host the festival from 6 p.m. Friday May 31, noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday June 1 and and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday June 2. The council approved a temporary alcohol license for the company to hold the festival at the Park at City Center.  The event, which usually has free admission, is slated to have two designated areas where alcohol will be served — on the lower level of the park. The festival will feature food, music, arts & crafts and a kids zone. A wing-eating contest is also typically held during the event.  Nearly 20,000 people are expected to flock to Woodstock for the event.  The council …

Ridgewalk Parkway Widening To Start This Week

The road's widening will be done ahead of the opening of the Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta.

With one road project under its belt, the city of Woodstock will soon start another one. Motorists should expect the widening of Ridgewalk Parkway to start some time this week. The road will be widened between the Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta's main entrance and Ridge Trail.  The Woodstock City Council last month unanimously approved an agreement Community & Southern Bank to use a loan to pay for the road improvements.  The loan amount was approved at $2.7 million, with a 1.85 percent interest rate fixed for three years.  The agreement called for the loan to be secured with up to $2.7 million in Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, or SPLOST, IV dollars.  The city, along with Horizon Properties, the outlet mall's developer, and Cherokee …

Relocated Woodstock Parkway Open For Traffic

Woodstock Parkway was relocated as part of plans to build the Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta in the city.

The newly relocated Woodstock Parkway is now open for use. The road opened at 10 a.m. on Friday, the city of Woodstock announced. Woodstock Parkway was shifted to the eastern part of the Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta's property, and also realigned with the entrance to the Meridian at Ridgewalk neighborhood.  The new intersection with Meridian Drive is in full operation and also has a working traffic signal.  The old Woodstock Parkway will be used as the entrance to the outlet mall, which is under construction and slated to open in July. The traffic signal at the new mall entrance and Ridgewalk Parkway and Olde Rope Mill Road will temporarily be in flash mode until the entrance to the outlet mall is completed.   The secondary entrance of the …

Ridgewalk Parkway Widening Could Start in February

The Woodstock City Council approved a loan agreement with Community & Southern Bank to make the improvements.

The Woodstock City Council on Monday unanimously approved an agreement Community & Southern Bank to use a loan to pay for the widening of Ridgewalk Parkway. The loan amount is set at $2.7 million, with a 1.85 percent interest rate fixed for three years.  The road will be widened between the Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta's main entrance and Ridge Trail. The agreement calls for the loan to be secured with up to $2.7 million in Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, or SPLOST, IV dollars.  The city, along with Horizon Properties, the outlet mall's developer, and Cherokee County all chipped in to pay for the roadway's improvements.
