134 juniors in Cherokee County earned the prestigious recognition due to their exceptionally high PSAT scores.
Cherokee County juniors who scored in the 90th percentile or above on their PSATs were recently named Superintendent’s Key Scholars by the Cherokee County School District. The program is a district-wide initiative that begins in elementary school and recognizes students who exceed the averages on standardized tests such as the ITBS. “Our Key Scholars represent the top 10% of all students in the Nation who took the PSAT exam in October, and that’s a major accomplishment for which each of them and their families should be very proud,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Frank Petruzielo said in a school district release. “As academic leaders, these outstanding students have the potential to continue distinguishing themselves as high school …

The America's Most Challenging High Schools list ranks schools based on factors including the percentage of graduating seniors who take Advanced Placement (AP) tests. Creekview High School's Aeronautics Team is hosting Aeronautics Night at Las Palmas on Cumming Highway on Thursday evening. Fifteen percent of your bill will be donated to the team, and Creekview students that attend the fundraiser can enter a drawing to win a free model rocket kit. A Creekview High School drama and English teacher has been arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault following allegations that he conducted a sexual relationship with a student. Matthew Tamanini, 31, of Canton, allegedly had the affair with the 16-year-old student over a four month period, according to the Cherokee Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office believes at least two sexual assaults occurred on the Creekview campus itself. These assaults on campus caused the Sheriff's Office to charge Tamanini with two counts of sexual assault against a person in custody. A Creekview High School teacher has been arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student who attends the school, authorities say. According to a press release from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, they were informed Tuesday by the Cherokee County School District of allegations of misconduct by 31-year-old Adam Blake Bearden, a special education teacher at Creekview since 2010. On Tuesday evening, Sheriff's deputies searched Bearden's Ball Ground home. Sheriff's deputies believe the relationship lasted for three months and took place off-campus.
